Drops of Crimson is going quarterly
I will be publishing
January, April, July and October on the 15th
Deadline for submissions is the 15th
of December, March, June and September
Accepted Genres
Urban Fantasy, Dark Fantasy, Urban
Gothic, Steampunk, and Horror stories. Young Adult and
stories with a more humorous tone are also welcome. Artwork
and photography will be evaluated on an individual basis. No
fan fiction accepted.
The July issue is YA
only. Deadline for submissions for the YA issue is June 15th.
Payment
At this time, DoC is unable to pay for
your contribution. We will however offer you space for a
min-bio with your submission and links to your website, blog
or simply email. In the future we may start selling
advertising to allow us to pay for submissions.
Word Count and Parameters
Fiction: Between 2000 and 7,000 words -
REVISED
Non-Fiction (book reviews, con reports,
etc.): 500 to 2000 words
Settings: Any part of the world,
mythology or culture
Acceptable Timelines: No earlier than
the 19th century and no later than the middle of the 21st.
Rating
All submissions are acceptable up to an
R rating. No erotica or explicit sex.
Submission Format
Submission should have title, author name, email
address and word count in the header and the page number in
the footer. Manuscripts should be in either arial
or Times New Roman font. Please make sure your manuscript is
double-spaced. Submissions should be sent as an attachment
to your email.
Only electronically submitted
manuscripts will be accepted. Please send to
editor@dropsofcrimson.com.
Submission Evaluations, Rights and
Archives
We accept stories, artwork and
non-fiction from published (Print and e-print) and
non-published authors and artists. Drops of Crimson will
publish every other month on the first day of the month. We
accept reprints as long as the story or artwork is not
currently in circulation or copyrighted to another
publisher.
Authors retain all rights to their
stories.
All submissions will be evaluated by
the staff of Drops of Crimson prior to publication. Each
piece will be evaluated on its own merit. Authors will
receive notifications of acceptance or rejection within
six weeks of submission.
Archives
All published submissions will be
archived on the website with links to the author or artist’s
website (if possible). They will be removed at the author's
request.
